Wedding Film Photography

With a few years of shooting weddings, I can say the couple’s own wedding day experience is most important.
When that is the focus - meaningful moments, interactions and expressions will happen natuarlly.
It is those authentic moments - the simple ones - that lead to valuable. photos.
My approach is to help couples be engulfed in the positive emotion of the day, enabled to feel themselves and then document the resulting moments.
Only pulling them aside for the key posed moments, the couples favorite photos typically come from the acts of love, excitement and overwhelming joy they gave themselves space to feel.
If being present and fully experiencing your wedding day is important to you, I look forward to hearing your story!

Why do you also shoot film if digital is more convenient?
Digital has its benefits, but shooting on film is the only way to capture certain emotions of the day. Film unlocks a unique approach to how I shoot - I’m more dialed into the moment and end up with more meaningful photos.
What is your turnaround time?
It varies depending on the needs of the couple and project, but I usually say 6 weeks. That gives myself enough creative time with the photos and video if needed, but the goal is always as soon as possible.
Why do you process your own film?
I prefer to have full creative control of my work - I do the processing, scanning and color inverting. With the hundreds of rolls I’ve developed, I’ve never ruined a single one - the lab has ruined multiple for me. My scans are also much higher resolution - giving you the best quality photos.
Is shooting on film more risky than digital?
I am honestly more confident in my skills and knowledge of film over trusting a digital memory card to not ‘corrupt’. I know the sounds, vibrations and functions of my camera and have full confidence in being able to capture moments. Film itself is not risky, its the knowledge and experience of the photographer that matters.
How do you decide when to shoot digital vs. film?
Before every wedding, I have a complete vision and shot list of what I need to capture in order to get the best results. That vision is formulated by knowing what is most important to the couple, my experience of shooting and finally the environment (lighting, audio, quickness of the moment). With all of that, I make judgements on the most effective tool to use (digital vs. film) to best capture the moment.
What if we’re awkward or uncomfortable in front of the camera?
I’m a photographer with very few photos of myself for this reason! I understand the weight that looking into the lens of the camera has. I first do my best to help you feel comfortable with me (I have a very easy-going approach) and then I help you most feel yourself. The best photos come from couples being their authentic selves, not from everything being perfectly staged or posed. I’m also aware of how couples feel shooting in public with crowds of people looking at them - we can work together in any scenario to feel comfortable.
Can you help us build a wedding day timeline?
I’m happy to give my personal insights on timeline - but the ultimate responsibility is with you and your wedding planner/coordinator. I take special note about the flow of wedding days and how to manage energy levels for the best experience. I can share my insight on how I think you’d best enjoy your day as well as speak up if something conflicts with my ability to get you the photos you want.
We are eloping to somewhere we have never been, can you plan it for us?
Same approach, I’m more than happy to do a bit of research, throw out some location ideas and let you know if what you have planned works for photos! It is up to the couple to have the locations and timeline dialed in - as well as any laws specific to the area.
How far in advance should we book you?
Whenever you want to lock in your date - it’s first come first serve for reserving dates. I love a good last minute inquiry though! If i’m willing and available, I can usually go within a few days notice. I’m a traveler.
What happens after we inquire?
I reach out and we chat! Inquiries don’t need to be that serious…if you just have a few questions let’s hop on a call and talk. My main priority is making sure we are a good creative fit - I want to be sure you end up with your dream gallery at the end of it all.
How do we reserve our wedding date?
After we connect on details and specifics for the day, I send over a contract for you to review. Your date is locked in when you sign the contract and send over the retainer payment. The retainer payment is a certain percentage of the full booking price - not an additional fee.
Do you actually like shooting weddings?
More than you will ever know. I enjoy getting to know couples and their stories, tagging along on their biggest day and retelling their story in a way thats true to them. I’m all about emotions and peak life experiences, being able to document it is very rewarding to me.
